How should I wash latex clothing?

Washing latex should be done in two steps, depending on how you plan to store the item (using talcum powder or silicone-based polish or shine products).

Step 1: In a container, mix warm water with a small amount of soft soap or a special latex cleaning product, such as VIVICLEAN. Gently clean both the outside and inside of the latex using soft hand movements. Avoid scrubbing with hard sponges.

Step 2:

  • If you plan to store using talcum powder: simply rinse the latex with warm water to remove any soap residue.
  • If you plan to store using silicone-based polish or shine products: mix a small amount of  care product, such as VIVISHINE, into warm water. Gently rinse the latex on all sides and leave it in the water for about 5 minutes.

Important:

  1. Do not wash latex in a washing machine.
  2. Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, or chemical cleaners.
  3. Do not use rough brushes or sponges.
  4. Do not leave latex soaking in water for a long time.

How to dry latex after washing?

Gently pat the latex dry with a towel on both the inside and outside, then hang it on a hanger in a well-ventilated room.

Important:

  1. When drying with a towel, make sure to remove large water drops, as they may leave marks on the latex once dry.
  2. Do not rub too harshly, as this can damage the latex.
  3. Do not leave latex to dry under direct sunlight.
  4. Do not leave latex drying for a long time, especially if it is clean and unprotected (without talc or silicone).

How should I store my latex clothing and prevent it from sticking?

Always store latex clothing in a clean and fully dry condition. Before storing, you can use one of the following two methods to protect the material:

  • Talcum powder: Ideal for long-term storage of latex. Lightly dust the inside and outside of the garment to prevent sticking.
  • Silicone-based polish or shine products: These special products help maintain the shine and prevent sticking. Apply according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Hang your latex items vertically on a hanger, preferably inside a garment bag, to limit exposure to air. Avoid folding or placing heavy items on top to prevent creases and sticking.

How to put on latex clothing?

To put on latex clothing safely and comfortably, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure the garment is clean and completely dry.
  2. Apply a thin layer of latex polish or silicone-based shine product to the inside of the garment. This reduces friction and makes it easier to slide the latex over your body.
  3. Gently insert your limbs one at a time, taking care not to stretch or tear the latex. Move slowly and adjust the garment as needed.
  4. Once the garment is on, smooth out any wrinkles or folds and avoid pulling excessively.

Important: Do not use talc for putting on tight latex clothing, as it can reduce the shine and effectiveness of silicone-based polish.

How should I handle latex if it gets torn or scratched?

Even a small tear in latex can grow, especially if the damage is located in a stretchable area. To handle this situation safely, consider the following options:

  1. Repair it yourself: You can attempt a repair at home, but this requires knowledge and proper tools.
  2. Use a ready-made repair kit: These kits can fix minor tears, though the repair may look less aesthetic. However, it is always useful to have a kit on hand, especially if you are attending events like Folsom.
  3. Contact a professional: Follow the link and submit a request via the contact form for expert repair.

Important: Do not wear the garment if the damage is large or located in stretchable areas, as this can worsen the tear and damage the latex further.

How do I choose the right size?

Measure the required body areas and compare them with my size chart. Take your body measurements snugly but without pulling too tight.
